Daemon in the Night

The moon is high in the western sky
And I sit alone down here
When I believe the night is well
He comes and strengthens my fear

In silence he walks these halls
In eerieness he talks
My mind is clouded and screaming loud
My bedroom door then locks

The darkness entreats my wild mind
And then I know he is near
He comes and slips into my bed
My muffled screams no one shall hear

When it is over and he has left
I lay silent in my bed
Not once have I seen his phantom face
I only know he is dead

My silent calls to aid my plight
To Heaven they will go
But for now I wait and watch the door
And hear the rooster's morning crow
