Scars

Outside the room a small party had gathered; it consisted of the two women, a black haired, crooked nosed, snake like man, and an old man with an exceptionally long beard. Their voices were soft, but the women took it in turns to explain what they had seen under the cloak of the girl. The old man’s face quickly bore a grave expression and he stated that he wished to see this new student.

"What shall I do with her when she returns to my house?" asked the snake like man. "I do not wish aggrivate the situation any more than it has already progressed to, but what is to be done?" The old man simply replied,

"Severus, we will decide this matter later, once she is well and back on her feet. Poppy, may I see her now?" The woman who had been attending, or trying to attend, to the girl, opened the door to the room which held Mac; they found her curled up as though this room was her mother’s womb and she were not yet born.

"She lays on the bed Headmaster." The man softly walked towards the girl and stood over her. Carefully he looked her over, wise not to disturb her. He took note of the scars, in particular the one on her shoulder; softly he walked about to the other side of the bed and looked over her back. His grave expression turned to a look of deep disturbance. Upon her back lay a large, newly formed scar as though she had been thrust up a stone wall many times. He looked as though he were to be sick. With tears in his eyes he gently stroked the girl’s hair and whispered to her,

"Oh, you poor innocent child, I am terribly sorry..." He looked up to the others gathered at the doorway, stunned into silence, not certain of this new discovery, already sickened by the collar cut. "Let us leave you to your work Poppy." He left the sleeping girl’s side taking the snake like man and the severe looking woman with him to his office.
